Habit 6: Moving More
In this Podcast Series on Healthy Habits, I have tried to talk about habits that have been great for me to cultivate in my own life. The kinds of habits that I wish someone had told me to hang onto as a kid and never ever let go of. This week's habit is the habit of "Moving More" a habit that I let fall by the wayside for several years while I was raising small children... to my regret. About five years ago I started out on a fresh fitness journey, it has taken me places that I would never ever have imagined. Honestly, the simple habit of moving: going for a walk, a run, a swim... has changed my life... it has opened my world to new adventures and doing things that I never ever dreamed I could do... I little bit every day really does make a difference.

Habit 4: Fabulous Fun
When we talk about habits it is so easy to get caught up in all the humdrum of life... we tend to think of habits as restrictive and binding... but the habit of being intentional about taking time to have some fun... is definitely not humdrum. Just having a good laugh with a friend is a massive stress reliever, and so essential for good health. Think of ways that you like having fun, make a list... write them down and get going already!!!

Habit 2: Relaxing Reading...
In this week's podcast I am talking about reading. It is packed with ideas of how to make reading a part of your everyday life, rather than something that you yearn to do, "in your free time.". How often do we hear folk say, "I wish I read more." The truth of it is that if we break it down into bitesize bits... a page here and a chapter there, you will find that all the little bits really do add up. And with practise you can turn reading an enjoyable habit.

Habit 1: Sustainable Sleep...
It's a New Year and time for a new Season of the Podcast... I thought as the new year rolls around that I would chat about habits... each week a different habit... and I am starting with the habit of Sleep, which isn't even a habit... it is a necessity. When I started my fitness journey several years ago I went for a sleep test and discovered to my horror how life threatening is to be sleep deprived, and just how sleep deprived I was. I have moved on and learned how to sleep... forget about sleep training your infant, start with yourself and learn to sleep better... it changes your whole perspective on life and is totally worth the effort.

After the lazy week between Christmas and New Year, when all the hustle and bustle is over... and we are ready for fresh starts and new beginnings, in that week when when I do absolutely nothing but laze... we need a little energy and excitement to get everyone up and at it... and ready to face the New Year... Tip 11: Creating Gifts With Kids...
If you are anything like me, you have left all things Christmassy till the end of your school term and now you are a week away from Christmas and suddenly all your well intentioned gifting, of beautifully hand crafted gifts, and hours of intentional creative wonder around the kitchen table, that would have taken place over the course of the year... is about to happen in a couple of days. And in this podcast... I create a little reality check on what folk would like to get as gifts from your kids and what is actually achievable, given the time available, and the business of the season. Tip 10: Se7en Simple Christmas Traditions
We are heading into the heart of December... Anticipation is building for the upcoming holidays and things can very quickly get completely out of hand. It is also our summer break, when we step of the treadmill of life, school is out, activities are over and adventures are a daily event. We really need to slow things down in order to refresh and recharge our batteries before the new year, and we just can't overpack our calendar with every event... in this podcast I suggest se7en ways that you can Simplify your Holiday Season.

One of the questions I get asked most often at this time of year is how do I declutter my house before the holidays... in the past I would start at one end of the house and unpack as I went and end up with an explosion to sort out... at just the time of year, when you are really too tired to face any kind of explosion! But in this podcast, I suggest you start with a list... do what you can and leave the rest...

Tip 8: Se7en Things You Just Don't Need to do Before Christmas...
We are heading into the summer season over here, and of course it is Christmas time as well... and there is loads of pressure on to do everything perfectly, and have a fantastic Christmas packed and planned and packaged... and at the same time have a wonderful and memorable summer holiday. I am going suggest that you don't have to do both... you don't have to "Kondo Marie" your entire house and you definitely don't have to do a massive spring clean... A new year, for new things will follow the holiday season and a of great work, needs a holiday for recovery... enjoy the space you live in and time with your favourite people and move along...

Tip 7: Be Gentle on Yourself... It's a Challenge
As we head into the silly season, we find ourselves running around like crazy. We try and fit everything in but there are so many extra functions, so many extra little tasks, so many things that need to be done. It is the season for treating our kids, and thinking of ways to spoil our friends... and did I mention all the end of year functions!!! Often the mother person gets lost in the flurry and we end up starting a new year needing a holiday... I am going to suggest that we can take a moment or two, to be gentle on ourselves, even for a moment every single day... make it a habit!!!
